Newsletter June 2024

Hello, friends!

How is your June going? It’s the middle of winter, here in New Zealand. Where we are (Auckland) it’s pretty mild, so for me this just means a light cardigan on errands day. Or a puffer jacket if I go for a walk down the chilly beach (for mental health purposes, and to say hello to local dogs)

⭐️New Home Routines app later this year!⭐️

We’ve been working hard at a refreshed version of Home Routines.

Our first version was released in 2010 (!) so we’re excited to have a chance to add a wee bit of flair, some more flexibility, and some useful features to help you break down tasks and focus on what’s most important.

While retaining the chill, forgiving vibes of the original (and the star stickers, of course!)

One year ago today, we adopted a lovely cat called Zoë from the shelter. She is full of energy and mischief, and the Teens have since taken literally thousands of photos and videos of her. Like, every week.

Ever noticed how small messes that are invisible to you in real life are suddenly super obvious in the background of the cutest photo you ever took? Take advantage of this.

A Small Strategy: Snap that Cat!

Zone on a cat tree
  1. Take a quick photo of your pet*
  2. Suddenly notice mess in the photo
  3. Fix up the background, before pet moves away
  4. If there’s too much – zoom in, crop the photo and deal with that area
  5. Take a new picture with tidy backdrop

*pet, or anything else (small child/soft toy/cactus/emotional support water bottle etc)

The cat has been watching too many TikToks, and now she expects me to fashion a can of wet food into an elaborate party cake. I will undoubtedly be following the above procedure with the background of her birthday photos, very shortly. 🎂

Enjoy the rest of June, we will see you next month!
