Newsletter August 2024

Hello friends,

Seems like August is zooming past us! We will have family visitors around this weekend for our daughter’s 20th birthday, so I’ve been whipping around, tidying up here and there.

Today I tackled a (slightly overloaded) shelf of tabletop games in the living room. Time passes, interests and energy levels change, so we’ll be sending some old games off to new homes, and others will be packed away elsewhere for now.

Fortunately we’re past the age of having little kids who tip out all the pieces, but I did get deeply side-tracked into sorting out the cards from two different games that had been shuffled together. (This broke my own rule – don’t start organising a mess that is inside a box, until all the messes outside the box are sorted out!)

We’ve also been sorting through the all metaphorical “cards” (well, more like sticky notes) that hold all our ideas for a refreshed version of the Home Routines app. Those don’t fit in such a tidy box!

Our first version was released in 2010 (!) so we’re excited to have a chance to add a wee bit of flair, some more flexibility, and some useful features to help you break down tasks and focus on what’s most important.

We are thrilled with how many folks have joined our mailing list to keep up with what’s happening with the app. Thank you!

We have so many ideas (too many, maybe?) and have a lot of them in development already. so we thought it would be a good idea to check in and let you tell us what’s most important

⭐️ What is on your wish list for the
Home Routines app? ⭐️

We’ve made a very short Google survey (now closed)

It is anonymous and has only three questions:

  • Do you use the Home Routines app?
  • Which of our imagined new features do you like the sound of?
  • And an open text box for you to add any other thoughts
  • (favourite parts of the current app, wish list items, or anything else)

You can click here to complete it if you like! (No pressure!)

We look forward to hearing from you!

You’re also welcome to email us anytime if that suits you better.

Enjoy the rest of August, we will see you next month!

    Newsletter June 2024

Hello, friends! How is your June going? It’s the middle of winter, here in New Zealand. Where we are (Auckland) it’s pretty mild, so for me this just means a light cardigan on errands day. Or a puffer jacket if I go for a walk down the chilly beach (for mental health purposes, and to say hello to local dogs) ⭐️New Home Routines app later this year!⭐️ We’ve been working hard at a refreshed version of Home Routines. Newsletter January 2026

⭐️ Happy New Year, friends! ⭐️ I hope 2026 has started well for you. We had a quiet break at home, reset the house after hosting Christmas, and are wondering what this new year will bring. The school year starts in late January here in New Zealand, right at the peak of summer. I fondly recall the smell of fresh stationery on those first, hot days back. Those memories of sharp HB pencils and crisp new exercise books are probably why a lot of us…

    Newsletter April 2025

Hello, friends! Good news – we finally released the new Home Routines app! If you pre-ordered it earlier it may already be on your device, but otherwise you can find it in the App Store. Give it a try! This is a brand new, free app, separate from the “Classic” version, and it won’t overwrite or replace the original. We have already received some detailed feedback from folks who have downloaded it so far, and we appreciate it so much! It makes such a difference…

    Newsletter October 2024

Hello friends, I hope September treated you well and that you are safe and sound from the terrible storms. It’s springtime here in New Zealand, but we still enjoy some of the trappings of the Northern Hemisphere’s autumn. (I do look forward to my yearly pumpkin spice latte as we get further into the month) The teens have already dragged Tim down to the local beach for their first swim of the season, but it is far too chilly for me at this stage! ⭐️ New features survey results…
