Introduction
A Routine is a checklist for tasks that you need to do again and again. You can make as many routines as you like, for anything you like: housework, drinking your water, exercise, homeschooling, gardening, work routines – whatever suits you. Many fine productivity experts recommend using Routines to ensure you complete all the tasks you consider important, as well as helping build good habits. With HomeRoutines you create these checklists, then choose which days of the week they appear on, and upon which days they will reset. You can also choose to be reminded to start your routine.
Completing Tasks on a Routine

- Touch the Routine name on the home screen
- Give yourself a gold star for completing a task, by touching a greyed-out star
You can touch it again to make it grey again. - As you complete your tasks, the star for that routine on the home screen will gradually fill in with gold. When all the tasks are complete, the star will be completely gold.

Manually Resetting a Routine’s Stars
Touch the star outline button at the bottom of your Routine screen, and all the completed stars will be cleared (after a confirmation screen so you don’t accidentally clear them)
Sharing the tasks in a routine
Touch the action button at the bottom of your Routine screen to share the task list by email.
Creating a New Routine and Adding Tasks to it
- Touch Edit at the top of the Home screen. (If you’re using an iPad, you need to rotate your iPad to horizontal to see the Edit button)
- Touch Add Routine
- The keyboard will appear. Type in the name of your routine.
- Touch Return
The new routine will be added to the end of your routine list. - Touch Done to go back to the Home screen.
Adding Tasks to a New Routine
- Touch your new routine to go to its screen.
- Since there are no tasks in your new routine yet, touch Add task and enter your task using the keyboard.
Touch Return when you’ve finished typing it in, and you will move right away into a new text box for the next task in your list. - When you’ve entered all your tasks for your routine, just touch Done and you will be on the screen for your new routine.
- Now you can start doing those jobs and giving yourself those gold stars. Well done you!
Scheduling a routine and when its stars reset
- Scroll down to the bottom of your task list in a routine, and you will see a small scheduling summary.
- Touch the summary, and you will be taken to the schedule screen:
- Touch the check boxes to change when a routine will be shown, and when its stars will be reset. You can select as many, or as few, checkboxes as you like. This means you can, if you wish, schedule a routine to never show up… so you can “retire” it for awhile out of season.
- Touch Routine in the top left to go back to the routine screen.

Setting Routine Reminders
HomeRoutines can remind you when it’s time for you to start your routine.
- Scroll down to the bottom of your task list in a routine. At the very bottom of the screen you will see the Routine reminder.
- Tap the Routine reminder text, and you will be taken to the reminder schedule screen

- Tap the Routine reminder switch to turn on the routine reminder.

- Tap the Reminder time and choose the time you wish your reminder to alarm you, then tap Set.

- Your reminder will then alert you on the days that your routine is set to appear. You can switch the alarm off at any time.
HomeRoutines reminders sound just once, and don’t go on and on like the standard Apple alarms.

Hidden Routines (Switching Today’s Routines to All Routines)
If you use the scheduling settings, it’s possible to make a routine that will not appear on the current day. Eg, if you had a weekday routine created, and today is Saturday, the weekday routine won’t appear on your home screen.
You can toggle between showing All routines, and just Today’s Routines, using the button at the top left of the Home Screen.
