This feature lets you wirelessly backup your HomeRoutines data to a file on your computer, and restore it from there. You must be connected via WiFi to a computer for it to work.
Backup Data
- Make sure your computer is switched on, and is connected to WiFi
- Make sure your phone is connected to WiFi
- Touch Help & Support on the home screen of HomeRoutines, on your phone/iPod
- Touch Backup and Restore
- Touch the Backup Server switch so it says ON
A new step will appear on HomeRoutines. Your phone/iPod is temporarily creating a web server (accessible on your wifi network) so that you can download your data. - Open your browser on your computer, and type in the web address displayed on your phone/iPod
- Right-click on the Save Your Data link and save the file with your data to your computer.
- When you exit this screen, the web server on your phone will close
Remember where you saved it! And backup often.
Restore your Data from Backup
- Make sure your computer is switched on, and is connected to WiFi
- Make sure your phone is connected to WiFi
- Touch Help & Support on the home screen of HomeRoutines, on your phone/iPod
- Touch Backup and Restore
- Touch the Backup Server switch so it says ON
A new step will appear on HomeRoutines. Your phone/iPod is temporarily creating a web server so that you can restore your data. - Open your browser on your computer, and type in the web address displayed on your phone/iPod
- Click Browse and locate the backed up HomeRoutines data file
- Click Upload to restore it to your phone/iPod
Alternative Method of Backing Up Data
If you have iOS 3.2 or later, you can back up your HomeRoutines data using the file sharing feature of iTunes.
- Plug your phone, iPad or iPod touch in to your computer
- Open iTunes and click on the name of your device.
- Click Apps
- Scroll down to the File Sharing section of the Apps tab
- Click HomeRoutine and then select the data file – it will be called HomeRoutinesdata.homeroutines.
- Click Save to… and choose where to save the file.
You cannot restore HomeRoutines data files from the file sharing tool here – you will need to use the Wifi method described above.
