HomeRoutines 2.5 Update
There’s a new update in the app store for HomeRoutines.
Nifty new features include:
- New bi-weekly*, monthly and manual reset schedules for your routines
- Choose which months of the year routines will appear – for seasonal routines
- Support for iPhone 5 screen resolution
- Improved iPad artwork for retina screens
- Bug fixes for star resets, background music, timer sounds, routine reminders, bluetooth hotspots and more
- HomeRoutines is now a universal app. Whether you originally purchased the iPhone or iPad version, it will now work on either device.
UPDATE, 8 February
We have identified a couple of bugs in HomeRoutines 2.5 (Special thanks to those of you who’ve taken time to let us know!)
The first affects the new bi-weekly routines. Only “Week A” routines are appearing, regardless of which week you have selected. Bi-weekly reminders are also not appearing correctly.
The second bug is affecting the sync service. Sometimes changes are sent up to the server but then decide to stay there, rather than coming back down to the app. This means that syncing between two devices is not working consistently.
We are very sorry that these bugs are marring our new update, which we are otherwise very proud of. We have stayed up late and submitted an update to Apple, but it takes about a week for the App Store to review it and release it to the store.
We will keep you posted as we have any news, and apologies again if you’re affected by the bugs.

I hadn’t yet tried the bi-weekly routines, but I was very excited to do so. Thanks for the heads up that a fix is coming!
Something I would LOVE to see with a future update is in regards to the Today/This Week/Later To Do lists. I’d like to be able to add more To Do lists under that screen and name them, or edit the names of the three default lists (mostly I really want a “Tomorrow” list, but there are several possibilities! I think I’d break down lists by occasion or area of my life…just for those things that aren’t recurring, such as planning an event. I’d have “today”, “tomorrow”, “Joe’s Birthday party” and “For Etsy” lists! etc…). I think that would be great to be able to customize a little more. Furthermore, since items on these lists don’t typically reoccur (otherwise they’d be in the routines lists), I wish it were easier to delete the task. “Clear Stars” removes the yellow star, but that item remains unless I manually delete every single one. After a particularly productive day, that can get tedious. Maybe completed items could clear at the end of each day, week or month as chosen?
I do LOVE this app! Thanks!

Thanks for the feedback Erin! All of your suggestions are ones we are definitely planning on doing to improve the to-do section of the app.

Question re: Bi-Weekly Routines…
Does this only apply to daily tasks or can we use it for zones? I really want bi-weekly zones. Currently I have only two zones: first floor and second floor. I set up six zones that just repeat (3 of each zone). I would love to have just two zones.
Just wasn’t sure how to use the bi-weekly routines to fit that need or if it was for something else.

It’s more for daily/weekly type tasks, and you can’t apply that schedule to zones currently. But we’re planning on adding other zone numbers and schedules to a future update; I’ll make sure you can have less zones as well as more.

I originally purchased this app on my ipad. I ran the update last night, which btw I love, but it’s still not showing on my iPhone. I thought the upgrade would run it as a shared app between devices. Am I doing something wrong? Thanks!

Hi Laura! You will need to download it onto your iPhone. Look in the app store on your iPhone. On the Updates tab tap on Purchases and “Not on this Iphone” and find
“HomeRoutines Vintage” on the list. Tap the little cloud/download icon next to it.
The HomeRoutines Vintage icon will be grey in the list (we needed to differentiate the two versions we ended up with when we went universal; I need to write a blog post about this!) but it will all appear normal on your phone and be called just HomeRoutines.
